Staff is very nice, still needs improvement with wifi and variety on menu at the buffet.
Pools and beach are very nice and clean. Drinks so so!

Very nice place to stay. Customer service is great very friendly. Food needs more variations. No Internet service in the room only Wi-Fi in the lobby area and not so good.

Got the most severe food poisoning I've ever experienced, most likely from the pasta salad as my girlfriend avoided it and didn't get sick. Was on the verge of needing IV rehydration therapy (but the resort said a hospital visit would cost 3000+ USD)

Resort did nothing, didn't apologize, accused me of eating food off resort (I didn't). They sent some random staff to check I wasn't dead and try to sell me on a doctor visit for 200 USD even though I was already starting to recover after 14 hours of agony (I'm a critical care RN and don't need a Dominican doctor to tell me to try and drink water and stay hydrated for 200 dollars). The abdominal pain was the worst I've ever experienced and I've broken limbs before, had me rolling around on the floor glued to the toilet for 9 hours and really scared my girlfriend. I've had food poisoning with vomiting and diarrhea before but never with pain.

I'll never forget this as it scared me and my family from revisiting the entire country ever again and totally ruined my vacation.

Beautiful hotel and location.

Beds were very uncomfortable.
No activities day or night.

Nunca había visitado un hotel Tan malo como este, la comida súper mala y la limpieza horrible

El manager de ese hotel debería de enfocarse más y supervisar todas las habitaciones

En los baños hay filtraciones, las orillas de la bañera “Negra” de el sucio, polvos en todos los lados increíble todo lo que vi en ese hotel

Fuimos un grupo de 35 personas y cada uno de nosotros en las habitaciones tenía una queja

El chef debe de hacer un esfuerzo y mejorar el sazón

My Wife and I spent from Nov. 6-13,2021 at Sunscape and we enjoyed every minute. Evelyn, one of the Staff members continuously stopped by when we were poolside to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying ourselves.

I have to give a shoutout to Francisco, our Air Canada Rep who I felt was genuine in his care and concern for us.

There were 19 of us in our group (including 3 children under 10). As a Group of 19 we did not spend all of our time together and most of us went our separate ways on excursions and for meals. We would get together in smaller groups during the week but were only a group of 19 when arriving and leaving.

I did not hear any complaints about the Buffet from anyone in our group all week. I am a picky eater and I never left the Buffet hungry. We enjoyed one a-la-carte as I preferred to go to the Buffet. We went to the snack bar over-looking the pool for lunch where we could get a Hamburger, French Fries, Hot Dog etc. The pool bar was not open while we were there but there weren't enough people at the resort to justify it being open.

We met some great people from other parts of Ontario - Bill from Niagara who was at Sunscape for his 14th time, and Steve from Hagersville and the rest of his travelling companions who accompanied us on the City Tour Excursion on the Wednesday. The City Tour was supposed to include a Cable Car ride up the mountain but the cable car was out-of-service while we were there so the City Tour price was reduced and they more than made up for the lack of the Cable Car ride. Our Tour Guide, Domingo, made us feel like family. He was very thorough in his knowledge of the sights of the city. I wish I had of video taped the information he shared with us.

I was curious about the Romantic Dinner on the beach so I went and talked to the Concierge about it and told her that my Wife and I had celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2020 but couldn't do anything because of Covid so we were treating this vacation as our Anniversary celebration. When we returned to our room on Tuesday evening to get ready to go to dinner there was a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Banner on our door and a bottle of wine and pastries waiting for us when we entered our room. This was repeated on Wednesday as well.

We had the couples massage on Thursday morning and it was AMAZING! Carmen and Clara were professional and made our first massage experience unforgettable. We left there relaxed and refreshed.

Thursday evening at 7: 00 we experienced the Romantic Dinner on the beach and our server, Anderson, made us feel like Royalty. His service was exemplary! (He apologized for his English which was unnecessary. His English is better than my Spanish)

I was very worried about the Covid test we had to have before returning home but I needn't have been. The medical staff came to the hotel and took our group to one of our rooms and did all the tests in one location. The test was painless and quick and two of the three children laughed as they felt it tickled.

Habitaciones aceptables, comida criolla, solo que en los restaurantes a la carta son lentos en el servicio.

Este hotel es muy bueno, la comidas, la bebida, la animación con Hilary y los chicos del sun club, Carlos, Luis y todas hisieron de nuestra estancia la mejor. Volverémos muy pronto.

Service absolut top extremst viel Personal das sehr freundlich ist riesige Anlage, Essen gut große Auswahl, Strand absolut traumhaft, Swimmingpools, Animationsprogramm, Showprogramm Abends, man ist wirkich sehr bemùht den Gästen den Aufenthalt so schön wie mõglich zu machen. Zimmer schön geräumig und sauber. Absolute Empfehlung

We love Sunscape Puerto Plata and are happy for being able to return here in November 2021. We were here in Nov 2017, too. Awesome entertainment and shows every evening, good food, clean amenities and awesome service and people! Some mentionable below —

El hotel y las atenciones llenaron todas mi espectativa su comida es muy buena yo volvería con gusto

El hotel ha caído muchísimo del poco nivel de calidad que tenía. La atención al cliente, casi en su totalidad, está pésima, salvo ciertas excepciones. Al parecer tienen personal nuevo y no le han dado el entrenamiento necesario de como atender al huésped. Las habitaciones están bien, aunque no hicieron reposición del minibar. La comida sí es buena, PEEEERO la variedad es POCA. Esperamos que vuelva a tener la calidad en el servicio que antes tenía, o mejor.

El ambiente y la atención excelentes, la comida agradable pero muy poca variedad, las instalaciones y habitaciones muy aseadas.

Las áreas comunes de igual manera muy limpias, la piscina muy limpia, el área de playa de lo más bella, muy limpia, Las áreas de tragos y abastecimiento en ovaciones estaban solas (punto a mejorar).

Destacar nuevamente la excelencia y amabilidad de su personal, hacen todo a su alcance para que tu estadía sea muy agradable, si puede notar que hace falta mucho más personal, trabajan muchos turnos.recomendado.

The hotel was great, good place but the food everyday the same.no variation.the local staf does not speak english understandable. There was a possibility to do Covid test in santo domingo for free but the hotel does not tell you that.they keep telling you it is not possible and tell you that you will need to do the test in the Hotel for 45 US Dollar

La comida debería de mejorar, por lo menos variar el buffet. Hoy mi prima cumple años y el bizcocho cuesta 20$ Y me trajeron el bizcocho del color que no era, la masa y la mermelada que no era ‍️ Un caos total. No puedo creer que el snack sea mejor que la comida?

Sunscape is not the best, newest or most modern hotel, however they make up for it with the staff. We stayed in the Sun Club and that is truly what made us give the stay a 4. The food is not very good but if you are in Sun Club you can get your food made to order which helps. Also they have the most attentive staff, Carlos was amazing, friendly and accommodating and always tried to ensure they understood what we needed. Luis and Junior were also great. If it wasn't for these three staff members in Sun Club I don't know how the trip would have been in terms of food. Our room was great. The food generally needs an overhaul, it was the same everyday and not very tasty. In terms of entertainment there wasn't much to chose from, we ended up spending our nights in the disco where if you tell the DJ what you like he will play it for you.
The pool was nice and they tried to keep it clean throughout the day. If you want to do excursions i would do it through the hotel, its very over priced but saves you some headache. You will be accosted by people on the beach for excursions, massages, braiding, nails etc and for these i would say trust your gut and do your research (we learned this the hard way). Despite these things we enjoyed our trip. If you are going to stay in this resort, stay in Sun Club.

Absolutely gorgeous. Friendly staff, everything was absolutely perfect.
I honestly cannot say enough good things about this resort. Returning as soon as possible for longer.
