Nice place with a great view. Great food and great atmosphere. Nice and helpful hosts. We will definitely be back.

Tubagua EcoLodge es el sitio con la vista más hermosa de Puerto Plata.

Está ubicado en la carretera turista, como a 3 kilómetros de la gran parada.

Son casitas de madera techadas en cana con un pequeño restaurante rústico con una vista espectacular.

Es un hotel de campo, ecológico, decorado rústico, Perfecto para el que busca tranquilidad y estar en paz unos días.

Cocinan un rico sancocho, mangu con huevo, café de greca y tienen cervezas bien frías.

La vista y la tranquilidad lo es todo en este lugar.

Hay guías disponibles para hacer rutas panorámicas y a los charcos que quedan cerca como:
- Charco de los militares
- Charco La Rejoya
- Charco los coquitos
- Rio Sonador

Resaltan también que tienen un tour del café, donde puedes sembrar café, aprender cómo se cultiva y también saborearlo.

My family is originally from Dominican Republic and I wanted to stay away from the tourist-y area (especially during COVID). My boyfriend and I are really into nature and tranquility so this place was the best for distance from major tourist areas but close to activities (or at least offered some). Tubagua Ecolodge worked with us during the airport pick up, accommodated the meals we missed (because we were out) and reserved horse back riding with taxi service! The ecolodge offers a hike to a private natural pool where the hike was breath taking and the guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. All of the staff was extremely nice and the food was authentic and delicious every single time. I liked that there was no menu, all visitors were served more or less the same delicious food but every meal everyday is different (and healthy!)

The purpose of this ecolodge is to be close to nature and relax, I loved every second of it.

Writing this review, I still feel like I am on cloud nine, reminiscing on the one-of-a-kind experience that I had while visiting paradise on Earth. As a Dominican residing in the United States, I was in need of an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life (plus, it was my birthday and I wanted to do something special). Tubagua was that and more. From the moment I drove up to the lodge, I felt that I was in the most magical place for various reasons. I was immediately awestruck by the rustic beauty of the building structures, the landscape, and the amenities (including the pool). But, the view.the panoramic view is the most attractive feature. It's an exhilarating sight that makes you feel like you're on top of the world, while being connected to nature. The only struggle is waking up early from the most comfortable sleep to witness the sunrise.

On that note, the rooms are very unique and ideal for those that are yearning for an outdoors experience with vast amenities. Particularly, the casita that's below the restaurant is phenomenal. It included a comfortable bed with a traditional mosquito net, hot water, electricity, and that view that left me enamored and planning to return soon.
The service and hospitality is top-notch. I had the pleasure of interacting with the employees, as well as the owner and his family. Incredible kind and pleasant human beings that make the experience even more special. I am grateful to Tim, Jesse, Alfredo, Perla Taina, and everyone else that I met at Tubagua. It's aways a gratifying experience to meet people that care for the environment and its well-being. In terms of food.wow. I don't what I was looking forward to the most, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Everything was absolutely exquisite. It was also a plus to have Wifi to post the many "Instagram worthy" pictures!

If you enjoy nature and you seek the authentic Dominican experience, at another level, this is the ideal place. More than an ecolodge, it's an oasis. You'll definitely believe it when you reach the El Charco de los Militares or "God's Swimming Pool" after a pleasant hike in Alfredo's company. If the stunning mountain views aren't enough, the crystalline water will surely impress you.

I recommend Tubagua as the perfect getaway with your friends, significant other and/or family. Even as a sole traveler, you’ll enjoy the experience. It’s an oasis filled with the wonder, beauty and simplicity that will satisfy the wanderlust and the adventurers, the city dwellers, as well as those that reside in the countryside. You won't regret it!

Un lugar muy lindo acogedor, mucha naturaleza aire fresco una vista hermosa a 1000 pues de altura Piscina sobre todo mucha paz y tranquilidad un staff muy amable y la comida deliciosa.

The Ecolodge is a more special accommodation. Everything is built ecologically.
The location is beautifully high and the view is breathtaking.

There are 3 different types of cabins. We had the Private Lodge, which offers the convenience of a private bathroom and toilet.
On the other hand, there would only be "public" toilet options.

The lodge was beautiful. Super view and lots of space. But you notice clearly that it is a bit outdated. Here and there the lodge could use some repairs and embellishments. Also you have to like insects:). These are of course always there.

The swimming pool is also okay. Not so big that you could swim, but great to relax as long as not too much is going on.

Outstanding is the food which is there. Everything is freshly prepared and it tastes great. The portions are very large and you get full.

What is somewhat unmanageable is the meal package which you can book on the homepage. We had to pay in the end, unfortunately.

The service is super nice and courteous. Always there and helpful.

There are also various excursions offered. The hike is highly recommended. It takes a while, but you see a lot.
The offered tour through the coffee plantation and the mine are ok. In my opinion a little too expensive for what you get.

All in all, highly recommended. Only a renovation of the lodges would soon be necessary.

Hermoso lugar y una vista espectacular! ¡ solo que deberian mejorar el area de pscina y señalizar algo para encontrarlos mejor

Wunderschöne Ecolodge mitten in den Bergen von Tubagoa. Atemberaubende Aussicht Richtung Nordküste. Das Essen ist ebenfalls sehr gut. Wer in der Nähe von Puerto Plata ist, sollte einen Abstecher hierhin machen, am besten eine Nacht in einem der Bungalows einplanen.

Excelente lugar para los que prefieren un hambiente natural, muy buenas atenciones, excelente comida.

Mi primera vez en este lugar exelente me encanta regresaré es muy linda experiencia regresaré saludos.

Es un hotel ecológico bastante chulo y petfriendly. Todo es hecho de manera artesanal. Tiene 11 complejos y capacidad para 40 personas en total. Tienen una sola piscina tipo jacuzzi. El ambiente es muy chulo pues te sientes a gusto con la naturaleza y bastante relajado. La comida es buena, pero debes ponerte al tanto del menú e informarles qué comes y qué no. El personal es muy amable y gentil. La excursión es bien cansona, pues debes caminar 7km, aproximadamente 1 hora, para llegar al río. Debes ir bien preparado para caminar, y mucho. Mucha agua y ropa cómoda, tenis cómodos y legins largos para no cortarte con los arbustos bajos mientras caminas. El guía es muy bueno. No te olvides de recoger tu basura cuando vayas al río y dejarlo limpio en caso de ensuciar.

This is a must when traveling to see what Dominican Republic has to offer in the northern regions of the island. It is a short 30-40 minute ($45 each way) taxi ride from Cabarete or Sosua, but is a very different experience of elevation and beauty. The hiking tour was unique, educational and fun. I appreciated very good service, community and experiencing true sustainable processes co-existing in nature. The food was thoughtfully prepared and accommodated my vegan diet within the Dominican food experience.

Cuando necesito un lugar que me dé paz y lo mejor para descansar este es mi lugar para escapar de la realidad ya que sin duda alguna es mágico.

Este lugar es para los amantes de la naturaleza, si usted no disfruta de las cosas simples este lugar no es para usted, para ser nuevo tiene cosas interesantes: D

Tubagua es el mejor hotel ecológico que hasta ahora he podido visitar en toda Puerto Plata. El personal que presta las atenciones a los que visitamos son excelentes, muy cordiales. Me encantó la habitación de madera con su forma de chosas. El lugar donde se come tiene un balcón con una vista espectacular ya que Tubagua se encuentra a una altura de 900 metros por encima del nivel del mar, ya te podrás imaginar. El café que se sirve es de una comunidad llamada Pedro García, muy pero muy bueno. La comida hecha como si fuera en casa, con sazones naturales y bajo en sal. Me encantó el lugar, rodeado de una exuberante vegetación, un lugar fresco y agradable. Hasta las personas que visitan el lugar. Si aún no ha visitado Tubagua Ecolodge, le exhorto a que lo haga, estoy casi seguro de que no se arrepentirá.

Es un excelente lugar para irse a descansar del ruido de la ciudad y del estrés del trabajo, allí la única compañía prácticamente son las aves y sus cantos y el aire fresco de la vegetación.

Un lugar perfecto para estar en contacto con la naturaleza, excelente servicio y una experiencia inolvidable.

Comida, servicio, vista, charco, hasta la brisa todos fueron exelentes. 100% recomendado para relajarte

Buena ubicacion, cabañas muy lindas y comodas, atencion excelente y comimos muy bien. Hicimos dos excursiones, el paseo a los militares nos encanto con un guia muy amable, tambien fuimos al sonador k tambien esta bien.
