Ocean Academy DR

My camera team and I visit Encuentro beach for a documentary about the DR. Luciano was so warm and welcoming and his passion for the ocean and the community is just stunning. He puts a lot of effort in supporting the local youth and asks nothing in return which I feel is rare these days. Besides that he’s a great surf teacher and an inspirational personality. His staff is very friendly and helpful as well. If you come there, check him and his surf school out and give his lil doggy a good pet:)

Ocean academy in Cabarete is a lovely academy with lovely teachers. Probably the best place on the Island to learn surfing. Luciano and his little dog Siri are your hosts. If you want to learn from the champions, this is the place to be!

I had a blast with Luciano, who was a recommendation from a friend of mine that visits Cabarete quite frequently. Luciano is an extremely nice guy and great coach. The sessions were really fun. I went there in the mornings right after a delicious breakfast in Cabarete, which was a great start into the day. After a lunch break you can go kiting in cabarete, which makes a perfect combination.

Was a super great time and helpful advice and lessons definitely recommend going here if you want to lean from zero to Hero and he has a super adorable puppy what more can you ask

Been going to DR for a few years now and it wasn’t until last Christmas that I got totally stock with the ambience! Extremely professionals making sure that not only you learn how to surf but also to have a great time in the waves.

Great surf school for all levels: from super beginner, toddler and kids, to pro. I’ve taken lessons with Luciano and his team for 5 years. I highly recommend committing to a daily program during your vacation. If you’re a beginner, you will need shoes to protect your feet from sea urchins. Luciano and his staff will have shoes, but if you prefer you’re own, pack them. They have small lockers to lock your things while you surf. Ocean Academy has a great vibe. Lots of kids playing, very welcoming, and Luciano speaks great English.

We had a fantastic time here at Luciano’s surf school. All of us including our young daughters at age 5 and 8 learned surfing within two days. Very friendly and skilled staff, focused on safety and fun.
