SeaPro Divers Puerto Plata

I have a really good experience having mine first scuba diving with seapro. The trip has been separated into two parts：training and scuba diving in Sosua area. Carlo did training for us. He is really professional and trsutable. Answered all my questions and gave me a plenty of time to practise how to breathe, clean up water in the glass in swimming pool. The other day, we directly go Sosua for diving. Chi Chi is so professional, he accompanied along the way under the water. Regularly checked whether I felt comfortable or not. I saw a plenty of sea fish and even the lobster. Highly recommend to do your first dive with them.

I would not recommend this place if you’re coming from a cruise.

They have a pickup time of 7: 20 am, which most cruises don’t even get to the island until 7 am. When I learned of the pickup times, I contacted them and they seemed to have no note of me being on a cruise (even though I put it on my reservation). I got the feeling they don’t usually deal with cruise guests. On the plus side, when I did notice the time issue they were very prompt in their email responses, but they were also pretty rude. Had to cancel my dive and they gave me 50% back.

I would just make sure if you’re on a cruise be prepared to run off the ship immediately as soon as the ship docks and call the dive shop ahead of time and ensure they read the reservation and made note of the fact that you’re on a cruise.

A great experience, but thewinds made me a little woozy and the harness was a little uncomfortable but I had a really nice time. The guys are awesome. A little hard to locate. GPS took me to a resort that didn't know where it was. But I eventually found it. The kids will love it. Big ups!

We went snorkelling with Sea Pro during our trip and it was my daughter’s and my husband’s first time going. I was so happy with our experience with our dive leader Julie. He really went above and beyond to help my eight year old daughter to make sure she was happy and comfortable during the experience. Five stars for sure!

It was such a nice experience diving with these guys. Emanuel the dive master was such a helpful guy. He was never shy with information. Always told us every thing we need to know about the dives, accompanied us all along the way and always took us to the best places to see some great sea life. I would also like to mention the great work their boat driver, bus driver and the other guy on the bus do. Always on time with a smile an great conversation. Thank you guys.

By talking to the dive master they are just staring this business again after being closed for over 4 yrs. I dove 2 tanks on Saturday and 2 tanks on Monday. Both days were in the same lagoon. The bottom was full of trash. Beer cans, car parts, ect. Very dirty. We did see a small barracuda on the 1st dive. A tiger fish on the last dive as well as a spotted eel and a couple of lobsters.etc. Coral was pretty much non existent.
Another disappointment is that they do not do a dive interval. Once you come up from your 1st tank dive you immediately go back into the water for your second tank dive. This ofcourse causes a longer wait time before you can fly so beware!
A 2 tank dive with no equipment (I brought my own dive gear) is $110 US. If you rent their equipment it is one $5 more.
I honsesty do not recommend but it was the only option available at the time. Do not expect any souvenirs from this shop as they have no shirts, no stickers, no bags. Absolutely nothing. Hopefully they can get it together one day.

As a DiveMaster in training I was excited for the opportunity to dive on a recent last minute trip in Puerto Plata.

1. Kate was very helpful in explaining the options. I booked online via the link she sent for a 10% savings.

2. Shuttle pick up was on time on all 4 days. It’s about a 45min drive to the dive site in Sousa. Hotel pick up and drop off is included.

3. SeaPro has equipment which you can rent but I brought all my own stuff, except tanks and weights.

4. They use Aluminum 80s which give a typical diver about 45-1hr of diving.

5. I had 8 dives over 4 days, (2 dives per day). It was a mix of deep and shallow sites.

6. We saw lots of tropical fish, moray eels, jellyfish, and a turtle in the distance.

7. The best dives sites in my opinion were the shallow ones because of the proximity of tropical fish.

8. The boat is a basic open air, open prop dingy. Bring lots of water and take sea sick medicine 1hr before.

9. I did not see a first aid or oxygen kit. We went through a simple dive briefing plan and all the dives were very manageable for a certified diver. We did a safety stop on all the dives.

10. Note that the bathroom at the dive site beach is dirty and terrible. SeaPro doesn’t control this. So come prepared to dive.

Overall, I would recommend SeaPro and encourage you to consider tipping the staff.

Dive Master was great but logistics were horrible. Way too many people, tanks and equipment in a very small boat. It was very rushed and uncomfortable.

Marco was an excellent communicator in helping us coordinate the dive from the states. The entire staff is professional and enjoy what they do. This is a straight-forward diving company that the pampered-princesses will not enjoy. However, if you can carry your gear and back roll off a boat, this is your dive company. Sosua is a great spot with plenty to see (turtles, eels, barracuda, old cannons and reef life). DJ and the rest of the crew made our multi-day/dive trip a great one!

These guys look after just about all of your water sports while you're on vacation. They are are very well organized and professional. "Speedy" or Carlos is a great agent for this company and works on the Blue Bay Resort. He managed everything and gave us great rates that were better than the hotel prices for various excursions. These a great people that go out of their way to make sure you have a great vacation experience. We booked jet-skis and parasailing and snorkelling with them and all were well worth the money. Enjoy

Katarina was incredible to coordinate this trip with! She answered all of our back and forth questions within the hour, relayed all necessary context and detailed information and worked with our timeline to make sure this would be perfectly planned. Such a gem!

My son and I have been diving in Puerto Plata with Sea Pro divers at least twice a year for the last 5 years. They are our go to company for diving the Dominican north coast. The dive team including DJ, Julie, Chi Chi and the boat skipper Coco are great! They are very professional and make certain that every dive is the best and always very safe. If you are planning a trip and want to dive to Puerto Plata - Sosua you can not go wrong with Sea Pro!

Always a great company to dive with! I have been to Puerto Plata numerous times, started by doing my OW cert with SeaPro, very professional. As I have returned numerous times I always dive with SeaPro. The staff is very friendly and always happy to welcome back repeat divers and new divers. I really liked the experience, It was awesome. I did the scuba diving intro in the pool, jetskiing and kneeboarding, and I think I'll be back for the full diving course. I really recomend It.
