AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Visited here in May and should have reviewed sooner. This place is incredibly run down. Heard that the owner had planned to sell but due to covid kept it limping on. The whole place was run but one very over worked woman who was holding the classes, and cooking the food. He had booked a week but counldn't take it more than 2 nights. I believe she left at the end of May so not sure who will be in charge now.

The whole place is incredibly run down and out dated. Dirty pool, chairs barely holding together.

The claim that the rooms are naturally cooled is not true. Fans were provided but we were dripping sweat in the room and if anything made the room hotter, no through air. The bathroom was incredibly dated, shower was pathetic, the whole place smelled bad. Almost no water pressure in the sink.

Moved to an airbnb up the road next to the surf beach and for a lot cheaper price we had AC, a clean pool, and the food truck park down the road which a much better selection of food.

We booked as surf trip but that just means they book you in with a surf school down the road at a premium. The surf school was also terrible and we switched after 3 lessons and learnt more in one with the next tutor than 3 with the one they linked up to.

This place gives cabarete a bad name (according to locals we chatted to about it after leaving the place!)

I highly recommend: The fitness package was great and I lost weight and got in shape, which was my goal after sitting inside during covid. The hotel is right on the beach and in the heart of the kite surfing area. Each day was one hour of personal training, one hour of yoga, an hour walking on the beach along with swimming in the ocean, kite surfing lessons and surfing lessons. Meals are healthy and tasty and eating together with other guests from around the world made a great co-living atmosphere.

I had an excellent time at Extreme and would strongly recommend it to anyone that likes a healthy lifestyle, great food and nice company. As a female solo traveler that was exactly what I was looking for.
The place is beautiful. On kite beach, the more quiet area of Cabarete, just at the beachfront with a spacious outdoor area, well equipped gym and stunning yoga loft and with all facilities necessary. But what really made the difference to all places I have previously been is the great experience. Robert is the most welcoming host and he built this place with so much passion. Gym and yoga classes in the morning and evening were just great. And the food is simply the best vegetarian food I ever had, well thought out and creative. I really like the concept - there are many other places that could learn a lot from them. It is also perfect if you want to work from remote in this social and sporty environment. I loved my time there!

Robbie, thank you so much for this amazing time!

This place is a wonderful haven, run by quality people. The staff is down to earth, easygoing, yet very attentive to the guests. It's not a luxury resort, and neither is it a budget hotel; but it's an ideal place to unwind, get in shape (e.g. Fitness, yoga, kiteboarding, surfing, etc.) and soak up the sunshine. The meals were a big part of my experience; not only was the food extremely fresh and delicious, but the large dining tables brought people together in a beautiful way. I have so many glowing things to say about this place, and I can't wait to go back!

This was such a wonderful “come as you are” facility. I felt like I was at home! The staff is kind and always checking in. They eat with you, they help plan fun excursions around the area. They want you to feel welcome and nourished on this beautiful beach! I would highly recommend for affordability, the delicious well-prepared food (made with love and care!), the great yoga classes offered to the public, and the spacious rooms.

I booked with EXtreme for a surf and yoga retreat last December. I would not recommend them. I only stayed for a few nights of the booked 7 nights, because a friends family member died, and I felt it important to fly home. They didn't refund me, they also didn't even give me the courtesy of responding to my emails asking for a refund. Even if I had been given a partial refund, I wouldn't recommend them. There was no hot water for 3 days. On the third day, there was straight up no running water. It was super loud. The hotel is right along the main road in town and only has screen windows. I didn't get great sleep there. The yoga loft looks really cool on Instagram, and it was cool, but it was also right above a bar and a public beach. So be prepared for a lot of noise during your yoga sessions. The yoga teacher was great though. As was the surf instructor. He was through a company from a different hotel called Hooked Cabarete, which they also have yoga classes and are off the main road. I would stay there if I could go back. EXtreme has a killer FB and Instagram game. Nothing looks as nice in person. I'm obviously biased because I wasn't given a partial refund, but I do think there are better places in the area where you could get some yoga and surf time. It was not a relaxing place and certainly not what I expected out of a yoga retreat. It seems well suited for the acro stuff, but you can find a better place to do yoga and surf in Cabarete.

Had a wonderful holiday with my family staying at Extreme in October. We stayed in the airy spacious penthouse with ocean views, with our own kitchen and three bathrooms. The beds were comfortable and i personally loved spending time in the hammock on the balcony. The hotel is in walking distance or a short drive to cabarete and the staff were really helpful with booking activities and suggesting local spaces we might like to go.we all tried surfing for the first time which was such a laugh. The breakfast bar area offered really delicious breakfast options and the on site restaurant was lovely too.i loved my stay and was only disappointed that i couldn't stay for longer.would definitely recommend and hope to come back soon.

Affordable accommodations right on the beach! The staff is very responsive in booking to daily questions while I was staying there. Having restaurant, pool, fitness classes, massages, yoga and circus arts onsite make it easy enough to never have to leave the property. Being on the beach it is a easy walk to go into downtown Cabarete. My room was spotless and I was provided with the necessary bedding, towels, mini-fridge, ceiling fan, closet with safe and 5 gallon water dispenser. Guest rooms are also only accessed with a gate key and traveling alone I felt very safe! Planning my next trip back!

I stayed here for one week with a group of women through Explorer Chick (an all women adventure travel company). We had such a great time. The hotel was exactly what we needed. The whole staff was so friendly and accommodating! I loved seeing them around the property throughout the day, it made me feel at home. The trapeze classes were so much fun, and the instructors were great! All of the food was also amazing. I cannot say enough good things about our stay!

Staff is friendly and ready to help you, and the whole check-in process is very smooth. Food is phenomenal. The rooms are pretty simple but considering you should be spending very little time in your room given all the things there are to do around, I was very happy with them. The hotel's environmentally friendly practices never felt like they got in the way, too.

My only nitpick is that because the rooms are very close to the road and that there isn't much noise isolation from outside the room, you will definitely hear any honking, peel out or speeding off that happens nearby (on the other hand you barely hear other rooms so that's good!). However this can be easily remedied with earplugs so I still slept very well.

I'm the CEO of Explorer Chick Adventure Co, an adventure travel company for women. I traveled to Extreme in 2015 and fell in love with the hotel. It is not some cookie cutter, sterile, luxury hotel catering to fly and flop vacations. It is a hotel built with the active, health and environmental conscious, adventurer in mind. It will keep you active with yoga, the gym, circus, and kite school. You'll eat amazing meals that put the US to shame when it comes to nutritionally dense food. And, it's right on the beach! Afternoons with a good book and a mojito are the best! Since my very first visit, I've lead 6 trips there so far with over 50 women in attendance. My women love the hotel, the eco-friendly approach, the staff, the location, and the FOOD! Vikki, Robbie, and the rest of the team have been a dream to work with and always attentive to our needs. Note: This place is not for everyone. Thank goodness! This is not the hotel for guests who demand and expect a luxury, high end experience. That's not the MO here. Extreme Hotel is for travelers who are far more concerned about exceptional outdoor and fitness experiences. Guests who love to connect with others and enjoy a laid back atmosphere.

Best active holidays ever in a solar powered hotel with friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend it as well for solo travellers, it's easy to get in touch with fellow guests.they are located directly at the beach, restaurant is great, they offer yoga and fitness classes and even circus classes like aerial silks and flying trapeze - and they even have an organic farm you can visit!

My school and I stayed here for about 5 days, and it was amazing. The plants and flowers in this hotel were stunning and so were the rooms. I really felt secure in the hotel because every entry was gated and needed a key to open it. The food was also good as well. This hotel is right on the beach which is a beautiful thing to wake up to.
